Dear Supporters,
Covid-19 may be disrupting our world but not our commitment to the families we serve in developing countries. While hundreds of thousands of lives are being affected close to home, millions of people and their livelihoods are at risk in the global community. Hot on the heels of the current viral catastrophe is an economic one that will have a profound impact on the world’s poorest people, perhaps for a generation.
Our project addresses the dual problem of respiratory disease and death among women and children caused by the use of dirty fuels and insufficient health care in rural areas. To improve health provision, we will equip ten Health Posts with solar powered energy systems enabling them to refrigerate vaccines and medicines and use energy-reliant equipment such as nebulisers for the treatment of respiratory disease. We will also support health workers to raise awareness of the new health services available and to promote their uptake. To prevent indoor air pollution and related illness, we will train local artisans in all ten communities to construct and install improved cookstoves which are less hazardous than traditional stoves. We will work in six communities in 2020 and a further four communities in 2021, with an expected reach of more than 10,000 people.
By using renewable energy we hope to strengthen livelihoods by using renewable energy as a catalyst. With the support of donors and fundraisers we were able to raise $360.82 which will go towards the above mentioned. A lot of work is still to be done but we are confident we can make a difference in these communities'.
Last of all but not least, you, the ones who support us on this journey, it could not be possible without your support and contributions so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are the difference.
With Gratitude,
Nepal Improving Health
