YOUTH IGNITE | Empowering Taiwan's Next Generation

Dear Friends,

We are writing to update you on the progress of our "YOU CAN! Empower Taiwan Youth for Social Impact" project on GlobalGiving.

Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to provide educational support, mentorship, and career development opportunities to hundreds of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In this report, we will share some of the stories of our participants and highlight the impact that your donation has made on their lives.

Breaking Through the Fog: Finding Direction in the Workplace

For many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the future can seem uncertain. burdened by family responsibilities and limited resources, they may be tempted to leave school early and enter the workforce without a clear plan.

MSM's "Youth Career Exploration Camp" helps to address this challenge by providing high school students with the opportunity to explore different career options. Through hands-on workshops and interactions with industry professionals, students gain insights into potential career paths and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

For one high school student, Chiao, the camp was a life-changing experience. Chiao has always had a talent for writing, but her impoverished background limited her exposure to different career possibilities. As a result, she had never considered a career in writing.

At the camp, Chiao had the opportunity to hear from a professional screenwriter about her journey to success. This experience inspired Chiao to pursue her own dream of becoming a screenwriter. She is now planning to study at a communications college after graduation.

Discovering New Possibilities through Music

MSM also works to empower Taiwan's second-generation immigrants (SGIs). These young people often face unique challenges related to identity, language, and culture.

MSM's "Rising Stars" event provides SGIs with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and share their stories with others. Through workshops, mentorship, and public speaking engagements, participants gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

One SGI who has benefited from MSM's programs is Juanmei, a young woman of Vietnamese descent. Juanmei grew up in a low-income household and struggled with self-esteem issues due to her family background. However, with the support of MSM's social workers, she was able to overcome these challenges and pursue her dream of becoming a beauty therapist.

Juanmei is now a successful nail artist and a national skills competition medalist. She is also a regular host on a TV show about new immigrants. Juanmei is an inspiration to other SGIs, and her story shows the power of empowerment and support.

MSM's "YOU CAN! Empower Taiwan Youth for Social Impact" project is making a real difference in the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Thanks to your generous support, we are able to provide these children with the love, care, and education they need to thrive.
