We are excited to share the incredible progress and impact of our STEM outreach and mentorship program, which has already reached 78 women and inspired over 140 students, with more than 50% being girls. This program introduced them to Twende's mission and shared inspirational success stories of past innovators, offering real-life examples of individuals making a difference in the world.
One of the program's highlights was the practical application of theoretical knowledge. we taught the students Ohm's Law and provided them with the materials to light up LED bulbs and calculate observations. This hands-on experience is crucial for their understanding of scientific concepts and paves the way for creativity and innovation.
Our partnership with the Commission of Science and Technology of Tanzania has borne fruit, as two of our female innovators secured grants to scale up their projects. Twende is committed to supporting them on their journey to achieving their goals, ensuring they make a significant impact in their respective fields. The two projects are the cereals winnower and the combined maize peeler and thresher.
Our innovation club is thriving, with 22 girls from the current cohort collaborating on five exciting projects ideas, including a household grinder, laundry dryer, auto stamp, car inspector, and a smart dustbin. These teams of four participants are diligently researching the problems they aim to solve while working on the designs for their technology solutions. We are looking forward to the prototyping phase, where their innovative solutions will start taking shape and making a difference in our community.
Its true that the STEM outreach and mentorship program has made significant strides in empowering and inspiring young women and students, especially girls, to pursue their interests in science and technology. We are proud of the impact we've achieved, reaching 78 women and over 140 students, and providing them with real-life examples of individuals who have made a positive difference in the world.
