Every single year Thailand experiences extensive and damaging flooding during the rainy season. Every single year hundreds lose their homes to the monsoon season. This is the exact reason that your help is ALWAYS needed because the struggle in Thailand is never over! This relief fund for Thailand flooding started in 2011 after a particularly bad year of flooding when tragically over 800 died and millions more had their homes destroyed. Our partners in this struggle have been spending the last few months collecting for the needy and wrapping up projects to rebuild. These are the stories they told in their most recent reports:
Drug and Alcohol Recovery and Education Network (DARE) has closed up it’s relief fund this quarter after having their project fully funded! This is exciting news because it means that the many infrastructure projects that DARE was undergoing have been fully complete. DARE worked to rebuild their treatment centers. It is in these places that 28,000 participated in Prevention Education Activities and 309 clients and 920 of their family members were treated, in 2013 alone. These centers are great community outreach places that provide amazing opportunity for recovery. Due to GlobalGiving donors DARE was able to get their facilities up and running.
At Foundation for Life blankets were given out during the unusually cold and long winter that Thailand is currently facing. Thailand typically has a warm climate so with this drop in temperatures many are just having to suffer through the cold because they cannot afford to buy warmer clothes. Thanks to your donations on GlobalGiving, Foundation for life was able to buy and send blankets to the north-east provinces Korat and Khon Kaen, and also they brought warm clothing and stuffed animals to the northern hill-tribes in Samerng, Chiangmai.
Thailand is continually trying to stay ahead of the next rainy season, this is obviously very difficult and brings up many hardships. But due to your donations strides are being made. Thank you for your funds and care! The Thai people are surviving because of you!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
