We remain in a holding pattern as we are trying to renew our foster license with the short term foster parenting department. When we first registered six years ago, there was one department for all foster placements, but now they have changed short term placements to be in a different department so it's a new system for them. Due to the busy schedule we have for November and December, we plan to follow up on this in January. The down side of the short term system is that there is no financial support from the government to provide for foster children so all expenses will have to come from our own resources.
At the moment, one of Heather's former foster daughters is living with her again due to a family disruption in her biological family. She is over 18 now so technically not in foster care, but will stay with Heather until she finishes high school.
