The situation in Pakistan with COVID-19 is getting worse and daily wage workers are simply not getting any wages and so hunger and fear is rampant. The Garage School focuses on educating the street children, basically children of the sweepers and maids of the nearby rich areas. Neelum Colony itself is one of the dirtiest, poorest areas of Karachi - reminiscent of Slumdog Millionaire - right adjacent to some of the poshest areas. Due to uncertainty regarding education and the desperation for food, we have diverted funds from institutional expansion to food rations for these street children and their families.
We fed 60 families in Ramadan. Now, they have asked us for 80 more families which we are fundraising for, and there is of course a waitlist for much more.
Thank you for your support. Please keep us in your prayers.
