By Joyce Manchester | Project Leader, Safer World Fund
Thanks to everyone who participated in the matching campaign for the Safer World Fund this fall! The matching funds disappeared in record time, and your contributions are now improving the lives of women, men and children in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A new nonprofit joined Global Giving in October, and we are pleased to include Ayni Education International in the Safer World Fund. Ayni's project involves building a school for 3,700 Afghan girls and providing educational supplies for those students and teachers. Through Comprehensive Disaster Response Services, funds from the matching campaign are providing food and medical services to flood victims in Pakistan. Funds from the matching campaign will also support several projects under the Afghan Institute of Learning as well as a project that offers training in job skills for women in Afghanistan under Women for Women International.
Looking forward, we see many additional opportunities to invest in the lives of people in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Please keep our projects in mind as you enjoy the holiday season and the new year ahead.
