We are grateful for that in Uganda the death toll resulting from COVID-19 is still low at 65 deaths and with slightly over 6000 infections half of whom have recovered. The Send A Seed Women’s Project however; like many community projects and income generating activities has been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Most of the seeds that we were to provide to other people to grow ended being consumed as most members could not work during lock down as they work on their gardens as groups and some starving people in the nearby were also provided some of the bean and maize seeds to eat.
At the end of last month August, the women, their chairperson, project cordinator, and the organization officials and board met and had to look for a way forward one of which was to continue fundraising and appeals for support for the project. Some new members were provided bean and maize seeds which at the moment we are concentrating on.
The volunteer agricultural assistant continues to assist the seed growers of the project while the other people taking positions of responsibility continue to work on voluntary basis. We always aim at making sure that every fund provided goes directly to purchase of seeds.
GlobalGiving has given us again an opportunity to fundraise through their fundraising platform. The ongoing fundraising is accessed through the link below. Kindly donate and share it with others as well.
