We are helping women living in poverty, including widows and daily wage earners, start small businesses through direct grants. No loans. Just hope, skills, and a chance to rebuild. Akhuwat is dedicated to alleviating poverty and fostering dignity through compassionate social support. Inspired by the principle of brotherhood, we empower underserved communities across Pakistan by promoting self-reliance, equity, and collective well-being.
In the slums and low-income neighborhoods of Pakistan, thousands of women are struggling to provide for their families. Many are widows, single mothers, or the wives of daily wage earners who bring home barely enough to survive. Despite poverty, these women carry remarkable talent and resilience, from sewing and embroidery to cooking and small-scale sales.
Through our Women Business Grant Program, we provide unconditional, one-time grants to help women start or grow home-based micro-businesses. These are not loans, they are investments in dignity, survival, and long-term stability. Take Razia Bibi, for example in the video. Living in a small home in a marginalized neighborhood, she struggled to feed her four children. But through support from Akhuwat, she received funds to buy a cow. With that single cow, Razia began selling dailry products.
By funding women-led small businesses in Pakistan, we create lasting change. These grants help widows and daily wage earners launch home-based enterprises, like sewing, food sales, or milk production, leading to stable income, education for their children, improved family well-being, and social empowerment. Over time, these women uplift entire communities and break the cycle of poverty for future generations.
