While the midwife training program for our Aceh clinic is a fairly new project for us here on GlobalGiving, 69 of you helped us get to $3995 during the April Little x Little campaign. This means we've now reached almost 25% of our goal for this project in just one week!
Our Aceh midwives do more community outreach than our Bali or Lombok staff, attending homebirths and travelling to visit patients for post-partum mother and baby health checks. This is largely due to the fact that many of our patients in Aceh may not have vehicles or find it hard to reach our clinic in Samatiga. After all, our Aceh staff delivers service to an area of around 13,000 people!
For this reason, the focus of the Aceh clinic is as much on emergency medical and general care as it is for maternal health care and brth services. Our midwives are also trained nurses and probably use their nursing skills as often as they do their midwifery skills.
However, our six midwives at the Aceh clinic are still required to obtain an extra year's mifwifery training now to retain their license to practice. And this is where your help matters so much!
Thanks for supporting Bumi Sehat Aceh during the April Little x Little and into the future.
with love and gratitude,
Ibu Robin Lim & Team Bumi Sehat
