We've been raising funds to send our Bumi Sehat Aceh midwives back to school to be re certified so they can keep their licenses. Thanks to your help this project is more than 75% funded and our midwives are back in school receiving their extra training.
Here's a story that shows why its so important that we be able to keep our Aceh clinic open and staffed with accredited midwives.
One recent evening at 5 PM, a midwife from Bumi Sehat Aceh received a phone call. It was from a distressed man explaining that his wife was in hard labor. Unfortunately, the couple had no means of transportation, motorbike or car, to reach the Aceh clinic, which was a 30-minute journey from their house. The wife's situation was becoming increasingly urgent. The midwife could hear the woman crying and yelling in the background.
Without hesitation, two midwives, Mailis and Nurul, swiftly responded to the call and drove to the man's house in the ambulance, in case they needed to transport the mother to the clinic. Upon arrival, they found that the mother was completely dilated and the baby was about to be born. They had arrived just in time!
After another 30 minutes of labor, a healthy baby boy was born safely. The couple were so happy and relieved that the midwives had been there to deal with any complications. Congratulations to Mrs. Azizah on the birth of her first son, assisted by the midwifery team from Bumi Sehat Aceh. The boy weighed 3.7 kilos and measured 48 cm and both he and his mother are healthy.
This adds another beautiful chapter to the book of hope and life being written at Bumi Sehat Aceh. Our dedicated team of midwives work hard to keep every mother healthy and bring every baby safely into the world.
Keep up the good work Team Bumi Sehat Aceh!
