Our true stories #9

Our true stories #9

Dear GlobalGivers,

At El Sistema Greece we strongly believe in the power of music, which is a tool to achieve long term social change for both the children involved, and their families. Our main priority and goal is to inspire children through music and provide them with a medium for empowerment and active participation into society. All the children deserve to have means, opportunities and support to follow and achieve their dreams.

We really want to share with you the story of our 13 year old student Javier who is one of the very first students of El Sistema Greece and recently passed his exams for the music school. Javier and his family are from Venezuela and since the very first day they came to Greece they support El Sistema Greece because they strongly believe in its values and goals, but also for them it is a link to their home country. Javier has been attending our violin classes for the last five years and is a proud member of our nucleo orchestra. He is one of our most dedicated students who never missed a class -not even during the Covid-19 pandemic- and he always participates in our concerts and music activities.

This September when he returned to his music classes he wanted to share with us the news about his success and this big step he is about to make in music but also thank his teachers for supporting him in the whole process. What we want to tell Javier is that we are very proud of him and that this is the power of the community we have built together, to support each other towards acheiving our dreams!

This is one out of many stories which prove to us every day that music education works as a very effective tool for social change and development. We are more than thankful to have you by our side on this great journey.

With great appreciation,

Friends of El Sistema Greece!
