Hello Friends,
This has been another busy quarter for us, with some very generous ongoing support from our donors - especially with some recurring donations. The last few months have brought the "little" rainy season back to East Africa - heavier than usual with el-Nino influencing the rainfall patterns. But health consequences have not been too bad.
One of the main activities we are focussing on at present is to improve health awareness and information to the community - and with the nomadic Maasai culture, this is obviously a challenging issue. The preferred communication and awareness-raising tool is the local community radio, which is a trusted source of information. The radio station has recently repaired its transmitter, so they are back to full broadcasting strength. But the power continues to be unreliable from the grid, so the backup solar power system is becomeing more important again. One of the main activities we are focussing on now is to upgrade the batteries for the system, to ensure that the radio station can remain on-air sustainably, and continue to provide reliable and trusted information on health, agriculture, gender, rights and many more issues.
If you would like to share this project with friends and family, we would be very grateful. The Maasai community of Terrat - and more widely across the region - thank you for you ongoing support, and join with us in wishing you a very Happy New Year 2024!
Bernie
