In the mountains and valleys of Afghanistan, countless families wake each day facing unthinkable choices: to seek urgent medical help for a child’s failing heart—or to afford food, shelter, and the bare essentials of survival. In a country where decades of hardship have drained economic resilience, these decisions are not rare—they are the reality for thousands.
For many, access to quality cardiac care is an impossible dream. The burden of high treatment costs, the requirement for male guardians to accompany women, and the overwhelming expense of travel from remote provinces push healthcare further out of reach. And in this struggle, it is often the most vulnerable—the women and children—who bear the brunt.
But in the heart of Kabul, a beacon of compassion and excellence continues to beat strong.
Since 2006, the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) has stood at the frontlines of care, hope, and healing. From performing Afghanistan’s first open-heart surgery to supporting over 825,000 patients with $59 million in aid, FMIC has become more than a hospital—it is a lifeline.
And it is people like you who keep that lifeline alive.
Every single donation, whether small or large, can save a life. A gift made from one corner of the world may reach a tiny heart in a distant Afghan village—and bring it back to life. It may offer a mother the chance to see her child grow, laugh, and thrive.
At FMIC, your generosity does not vanish into a system—it transforms directly into healing. Our nonprofit model reinvests every dollar into advancing care, training professionals, and maintaining vital equipment. Yet, the greatest gap remains: the cost of care for indigent patients—those who need it the most and can afford it the least.
By supporting this mission, you don’t just fund a surgery. You restore a heartbeat. You rewrite a family’s story. You give hope where there was none.
We invite you to witness these stories—real patients, real lives—on FMIC’s website and social platforms. As part of our commitment to transparency and trust, donors receive personalized impact reports and heartfelt updates.
Because healing a heart isn’t just a medical act—it’s an act of humanity.
