More Good Things Happening

By Toc Dunlap | Executive Director, Creating Hope International

This year has brought great additions to the programs that AIL offers young Afghan girls.  In the area of health, a new clinic has been opened at the same location as one of the learning centers so that the students there can seek medical attention without having to travel far from their village.

AIL continues to offer educational and skill training courses in all of their Learning Centers, and young women continue to flourish!  We recently received a sampling study from the AIL Office in Herat, which shows how well the Learning Center fast-tracking model is working.  26 literacy students from second through sixth levels at the Darb-e-Iraq Learning Center were given a test at the local public schools to evaluate what grade they would be placed in at the public school.  Each and every student tested out higher than the current grade they were studying in.

In addition, thanks to a very generous corporate donor, English and Computer courses have been established in numerous AIL Centers, with a specific target of training young women.  These young ladies are facing a much brighter future than the generation before, and we couldn’t do this without your help – so we Thank You!  Please remember that Wednesday, June 13th (beginning at 12:01 AM EST) is a Bonus Day through Global Giving.  Donations received that day will be provided a matching gift of 30, 40 or 50 percent.
