Empowering Young Mothers Continues ...

Thank you for supporting this project to protect girls and prevent gender based violence.  This report is from Brighter Communities Worldwide Administration Manager, Damaris Cheokemboi Ngelelei.  Following on from our last report, Damaris shares the story of what happened next for the group of teenage mothers ..…

Inspired by the life skills training, 14 of the 35 teenage mothers formed and registered an Income Generating Activity (IGA) group, ‘’Kipkelion Tuinuane Women Group’’. Brighter Communities Worldwide (BCW) supported the group with a 3-day business course, covering basic business management and finance knowledge.

The group has expressed interest in sheep rearing as their chosen income generating activity, and BCW will support this initiative by providing the necessary start-up resources. Jill is among the group members, and the formation of the IGA group marks a significant step towards financial independence for these young mothers. By engaging in sheep rearing, they will have the opportunity to generate income and improve their livelihoods.

BCW will continue to provide guidance to ensure the success of the IGA group, including ongoing training and mentorship as needed. Business follow-ups will be conducted to check on their progress, address challenges, and support them with network meetings to connect with sheep rearing and farming experts who can further guide them on their business plans.

The Life Skills Programme and the formation of the Income Generating Activity group are vital components of our mission to protect girls and prevent gender-based violence. Through education, empowerment, and entrepreneurship, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of young women in our community.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in this important work.
