Hello, Project 1808 supporters!!
We know it has been a while since our last update, but we promise you it is only becuase we have been hard at work making sure construction of Koinadugu College is going smoothly!
Currently, we have 2 buildings under construction including an ICT Innovation Hub and a building with three large classrooms. This is only possible because of continuous support from our community in the US as well as Sierra Leone.
The construction of the curriculum is also underway. Project 1808 and the local community has identified the need for three programs related to agriculture, public health, and environmetal studies. We are working with the University of Wisconsin - Madison as well as the University of Sierra Leone to create a curriculum that will equip our students with the knowledge necessary to become leaders in their community as well as the skills needed to be competitive in the job market.
We are in an exciting stage of this project where construction is nearly complete. The basic structure for the buildings is in place (see pictures attached) and plastering of the walls has been completed. Now, we can start creating a vibrant, nurturing and supportive learning environment for our future students.
A friend of Project 1808 in the US recently donated 200 like-new desks and chairs to the university (see pictures attached). We are now working to raise the funds necessary to ship these chairs to Sierra Leone by the end of August. Having desks for our students is crucial to starting classes and we need your support to make it possible.
Help us finish construction and provide classroom furniture by donating at www.project1808.org or through our Global Giving page. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help us make Koinadugu College a reality.
Thank you!
The Project 1808 Team
