Theophie Helps Transport the Injured to Hospital

We received a message from Theophie Chisibanzi, head of Terra Renaissance Congo office, to the supporters of our organization.

...

Hello my name is Theophie Chishibangi, and I am the Director of Terra Renaissance’s Congo Office. Thank you for your warm support—it means the world to us.

Right now, I am in Bujumbura, Burundi, where Terra Renaissance has an office. I had to evacuate from Bukavu, in South Kivu province, due to escalating attacks by the armed group M23, which is backed by Rwanda.

Bukavu is in crisis. Life for civilians has become unbearably difficult.

People are trapped inside their homes, unable to go out. Many were already living in vulnerable conditions, with little food stored at home. Now, with the conflict cutting off supply routes, they have no access to basic necessities.

No one saw this coming. No one was prepared.

Bukavu’s economy depends on goods from neighboring villages, but the fighting has severed those connections. The city is isolated.

Supermarkets and pharmacies have been raided. Food, water, and medicine are vanishing.

Most of the city has stopped functioning. I fear that more people will die from hunger than from the fighting itself.

We Need Your Help—Now

Congo is in a state of emergency. The people of Bukavu need urgent support. Please, if you can, help us. Every action, every donation, every bit of awareness raised makes a difference.

Thank you for reading. Your support can save lives.

Theophie Chishibangi, Director of the Congo Office of Terra Renaissance
