Thanks to all of you people supporting this project we are constantly closer and closer to our objective of becoming a safe place capable of fulfilling jaguars basic needs. We have now planted around three thousand trees and therefore we have made an important progress in the recovery of the stream we are guarding since it is now surrounded and protected with new trees that are working hard to minimize evaporation rate and to sustain all the ecosystem services that were endangered when the forests that nest the stream and underground waters that feed it were cut down.
At the same time these trees will attract those animals that abandoned the place after it started being difficult to find enough food and water. Since we selected those species related to local fauna including jaguar pray, we are growing fauna along with our new trees, and in this way we are growing jaguars as well!
Thanks to our environmental education program more and more people is aware of the importance of conservation and ecological restoration of the ecosystems that allow life to continue, and the ways that each of us can find to walk towards sustainability from the place and roles we inhabit.
Our volunteering program has also helped us to make our project more visible each time, and has brought us new ideas and knowledge that are enriching our practices and reflections and of course it has been a great help with planting !!!
We plan finishing our 10.000 trees planting goal this year, but at the same time we need to take care of our young trees so they can survive two dry seasons till they become totally independent to survive this beautiful but tough ecosystem conditions. It is important for us to continue studying the Tropical Dry Forest since it has evolved to sustain life with extremely low precipitation rates and this could be an important thing to learn given the climate change rhythm we are facing.
