Thank you to supporters of this effort to raise funds to build a village water well to reduce human / Chimpanzee interactions. During this period, BridgIT Water Foundation has been able to raise some funds, but so far not enough to build the well. We will continue to fundraise because the conflict between the villagers living near the Chimpanzee habitat has not improved.
Until water wells are built in a number of the villlages near Hoima, Uganda, people will be forced to collect surface water. This water is shared with animals, and it is contaminated with water-borne pathogens. This alone is reason for BridgIT to build safe, clean water systems there. Unfortunately the sources are also in the Chimpanzee's range, so the villagers, and often the children, encounter the Chimpanzees while collecting water. Tensions rise, and sometimes the children are attacked by the Chimpanzees. Village water wells can resolve these conflicts.
It is important for BridgIT to extend the reach of this fundraiser so it can help resolve the conflict between the villagers and the Chimpanzees. Please bring up this fundraising campaign with your friends, family, and coworkers, to help BridgIT raise enough money to build the well. Thank you.
