Project Report | Nov 19, 2024
Be your own muse

By Colleen Supanich | Co-Director

The last Saturday of October each year marks the end of our art classes with a public student art exhibit. This year over 200 people attended the exhibit. For the exhibit, in addition to displays of student art, we had a 3D forms instalation, a Prehistoric Life and Art cave as well as an instalation to step inside a painting by our featured arstist, Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo is quoted to have said "I am my own muse." A muse is a person who inspires an artist to create art, music, poetry, etc. This quote by Kahlo teaches us to look inward and not outward for a source of inspiration. It reminds us that, even with all our flaws and shortcomings, that we each have our own God given potential. We want to take this time to not only share some photos from our student art exhibit 2024, but also to take the time to thank you for being part of this project that aims to empower disadvantaged students in our community to be their own muses, that is, to recognize their unique potential and develop it.

Best wishes,

Colleen Supanich
