COVID-19 prevented Mercy Beyond Borders from training and enrolling new groups of women into our Refugee Women Micro-Enterprise project. Staff concentrated instead on working with our active clients who have already opened their businesses in the refugee camps with loans provided by Mercy Beyond Borders.
One MBB Micro-Enterprise group of three women launched a soap-making business, because everyone needs laundry soap and hand soap! When the pandemic began to spread, demand skyrocketed for the bar soap that they produce! It’s a thriving business giving its members steady income in the refugee camp.
Seen here are two members of the group setting out the long soap bars to dry in a shack they built from sticks, mud and UN tarps.
