Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your generous support of the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL).
We’d like to share with you the words of the manager of an AIL Learning Center. She says, “I was not an active member of society. I was trying to build my capacity, but when I faced problems I was not able to solve them and it was painful for me. I was talking about this with some colleagues, but they did not encourage me. I decided to start searching for solutions on my own, and I learned that AIL is conducting workshops to empower members of civil society in different areas of this life. I took part in an AIL Leadership workshop and learned many ways to be a leader. After participating in the workshop, I felt such a big change in my career. Even my colleagues noticed a change in my behavior and ideas, and began to put more trust in me. Each month I took part in a different AIL workshop; workshops like leadership, report writing, women’s rights, advanced leadership, management and many other kinds of workshops that AIL held at their office. Through these workshops, day by day my knowledge increased and I was soon ready to conduct workshops of my own to people who held high positions in my province and in the provincial council. I learned this leadership from AIL and am now able to solve other people’s problems. It was my goal to teach this knowledge to others, and AIL gave me the chance to achieve my goal. After a time as a trainer, with support from AIL, I was able to establish a Learning Center in my village. I now share our programs with people from all over our province, and with people from other organizations. We are able to offer training and education to young girls and women; training and education that helps them to be able to support themselves and their families and to lead healthier lives.”
By offering trainings and workshops, AIL was able to help this woman build the capacity, leadership skills and eventually empower her to establish a Learning Center in her village, which now serves about 175 girls each month, in classes such as sewing, literacy and Arabic.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful support of AIL. We are so grateful to each and every one of you!!
