Dear Friends,
You’ve already helped change lives.
Through your support of Hearts of Gold, you’ve stood with women, children, and families during some of their hardest moments. You've helped grassroots organizations stay open. You've given families a chance to work, learn, and dream again.
Now, something quiet and extraordinary is rising — and we can’t wait to share it with you.
In a small kitchen on the edge of town, the scent of fresh bread fills the air. Inside, six grandmothers move with confidence and care — shaping rolls, sharing laughter, and rediscovering something long forgotten: pride in their own work.
Most are illiterate. Some live with disabilities. All are the sole providers for large, multigenerational families. After decades of informal labor earning barely 30 cents a day, they’ve been given one rare thing: a chance.
Through D’ellas CREADORAS, a new program born from Hearts of Gold, these grandmothers have become trained bakers, entrepreneurs, and providers with dignity. Their bread now sells out every week. And more than 200 women are waiting for the same opportunity to rise.
“For the first time, I’m earning money doing something I love,” says Cecilia, 68. “And my grandchildren call me la panadera.”
This Mother’s Day, We Bake for More
From May 8–12, we’re launching a special campaign to raise $5,000 to help this program grow. With your support, we can:
Here’s how to be part of it:
Follow the journey on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/heartsofgoldec/
Join our email community for updates: https://www.heartsofgoldfoundation.org/contact.
Because of you, a grandmother has a second chance. A child eats. A family dares to dream.
Thank you for all the ways you’ve already made this possible — and for continuing to walk with us as something beautiful rises.
With warmth and deep gratitude,
María José Orellana
Fundación Corazones de Oro
P.S. This may be the first time you’re hearing about D’ellas CREADORAS, but it won’t be the last. This is only the beginning — and we’d love for you to be part of every step that follows.
