One Step Closer to Help Teenage Mothers Receive Home-Based Support

By Mustafa Ramadan | Digital Marketing Expert

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for being part of our journey to help teenage first-time mothers from marginalized communities get access to home-based support by experienced nurses and midwives!

The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP), a worldwide known home-visiting service implemented in Bulgaria by the Trust for Social Achievement Foundation (TSA), assists young pregnant women with health advices, guidance for building parenting skills and improving the family economic independence.

As of now, the service supports 128 mothers from marginalized groups (segregated Roma neighborhoods) in Sofia and Plovdiv. Many of them are unable to obtain medical treatment or counseling. However, by enrolling into the NFP service they receive free consultations from experienced medical specialists who come to their homes as part of our program. Our nurses and midwives provide support, encouragement and life coaching to moms in addition to imparting critical knowledge and skills for the healthy and safe rearing of babies. One of the key objectives is to encourage young women to complete their high-school education and/or look for employment.

This month NFP central team (Clinical Leader and Program Managers) met with the Bulgarian Minister of Health - Prof. Asena Serbezova, as well as members of her team, to take a key strategic step forward in the development of the program. The purpose was to showcase the home-visiting service in detail.

Our team also shared the promising results that young women and their children achieve during the course of the NFP program. Both sides explored ways to collaborate in the future to ensure the sustainability of the home-visiting service. One of the key objectives of TSA is to have the NFP integrated into the healthcare system of the country.

If you'd like more families to benefit from the service, contributing to a healthy and prosperous society, you could support us with a donation!

Thank you!
