Your favorite water partner has been very hard at work!
In 2022, together with you and all of your fellow WWFA supporters, we’ve installed 85 wells already this year. This is more than DOUBLE what we did last year!
There are so many uplifting stories, it’s hard to know where to start, but I thought I’d tell you about Gloria.
She is 40 years old and has 8 children. They live in Kella Nyangu village in Malwai with 62 other families totaling 315 people.
Before we met them, Gloria and the other women had to either walk 1½ miles (each way) to a village that has a water well, or more often, they would use a hand-dug well.
At this less-than-ideal water source, they would lower buckets down with a thin rope. Not only was this laborious work, the water wasn’t clean. We’re sharing a photo of the ladies with their buckets by that well, below.
But as of May 14th, everything changed!
On that day, they got their beautiful new WWFA water well conveniently located in their own village!
Below you can see they were joined by one of their friends, Grace, in her wheelchair, drinking a cup of cool, clean water. Our Malawi Team tells us that she was so happy be able to reach a water point like her friends do each day, and on top of that she celebrated witnessing the installation of the new water well.
In fact, Gloria and all the other women from Kella Nyangu are so happy and our Team tells us in the photo below they were saying, “Thank you Water Wells for Africa for the life-changing gift of a water well!”
And I thank YOU for caring about people in need. Whenever you donate to WWFA, you are relieving women of an all-consuming chore; you are helping children stay in school; you are improving people’s ability to be hygenic; you are relieving thirst. You are contributing to overall health and happiness…and that’s something to truly celebrate!
