Davis Galero Shares About Well Optimization

I want to introduce you to one of our key team members in Malawi!

I’ve known Davis Galero since 1996 when he was 23 years old and did translating for us.

He’s formally been with WWFA since 2008, the same year our organization received nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in the United States.

We’re grateful to have a stable, hard-working, and wonderful person like Davis on our team.

I know you’ll be able to see his warm personality shine through in this 2-minute video that I’m sharing with you!

In the brief video, Davis shows you that even when a village has a water well, there can still be problems. For one thing, if the well is shared by hundreds of households, the waiting line can be very long.

Additionally, there is a lot of wear-and-tear on the pump when this many people are using it all day long.

In 2018, we revised our methodology about how many people a water well should serve. We used to select their placement to serve between 1300-1700 people, but we learned that women and girls still had to trek long distances to get to the well only to wait in line for hours.

Now, our goal is to have the water well serve 500 people! Less is more in this situation because the trekking and waiting problems are eliminated, AND the equipment and water source last longer.

I hope you enjoy meeting my good friend and co-laborer for water, Davis!

For those who wait,

Kurt

P.S. Please enjoy our 2-minute video and you’ll quickly understand our heart to place more wells!
