We will mobilize youth volunteers to provide relief and recovery for poor communities affected by the severe heat wave. Blistering temperatures are causing illnesses including exhaustion and fatal heat stroke. Access to food and water is difficult because agriculture is failing and water points drying. We will focus our assistance to 5 villages by providing food, water, nutrition and hygiene supplies.
Heat wave is severely affecting local villages bringing in diseases, lack of water supply, lack of food, malnutrition and hunger. Heat is at a danger level already and people are getting sick. Death due to heat stroke is being recorded already. Children and the elderly are the most affected. Women has a difficult time fetching water from drying water points.
We will provide immediate food supply to the most affected and poor households. We will also provide water containers and polyethylene hoses in order to bring water via gravity fed from a source to downstream communities. We will also supply vegetable seeds, organic fertilizer and small garden tools so that food supply is increased at the household level.
The heat wave happening is causing havoc among poor families and there is a need to improve their conditions by providing direct help. In so doing we improve the conditions of the community and enable self-sustenance and development.
