The last few months have seen so much get accomplished. We may still be in the old facility, but many improvements have been made. We have been able to hire some staff with handy skills to work here, and boy does that make a difference. In the last three months, they have unclogged drains that had been giving us trouble for years, oiled locks on kennels that were sticking, replaced light bulbs in hard to reach places, and pressure washed exterior concrete areas that sorely needed it. They have cleaned our a/c units, cleaned out and organized our storage room, and keep this place sparkling clean and smelling great! The list goes on, but you get the idea. The new staff are not only hard working, and handy, they love the animals and take so much time with them.
We also replaced the floor in our kitty cottage. The floor was in really bad shape, which made cleaning and sanitizing difficult. Speaking of cats, over 30 cats are now housed at a foster’s property in a building that we refitted to get ready for the cats. The kitty cottage at the shelter just isn’t large enough to hold the large number of cats that we have right now, and this allows them to have more room at each location, and less chance of germs being spread from being crowded.
We also purchased new water pails as many of ours were rusting and in bad shape. We have also been able to replace some of the kuranda beds with new ones.
As you can see, we are making the best of our situation until we can do better. Thanks to you, we are able to continue and save as many lives as possible. We work hard every day to make their stay here as pleasant and as short as possible and live for the day each gets a forever home and that is only possible because of you!!
