Siyacula with Joy

By Mbali Nkosi | Music director

Future conductor in the making
Future conductor in the making

Choral music brings out the hearts and souls in perfect harmony! This was demontrated with APLOMB by our choirs and teachers at three Siyacula (We sing) festivals. Please see our Facebook page for details, using the URL link below.

Music is there to help in every stage in life. It helps both children and teachers to find their feet and voice. It helps form friendships and identity. It helps us dream of our future.

I arrived to one of our schools and an excited learner came running up to me. He could not wait to share the news. He told me that he used to want to be a police man, but now he wants to be a choir conductor. He grabbed me by the hand and hurried me to our rehearsal. He proceeded to step in front of the choir and show me his conducting skills. This young learner has reimagined his future through singing. he is developing the confidence to take the lead. That is power of music!

Wherever education is taking place, music is needed. The discipline and purpose, the collective endevour, the need to be individually prepared while being aware of the numerous moving and interconnected parts around us, is quite extraordinary.

Thank you to all the donors for making this possible. Thank you to all our supporting schools and music staff. A HUGE congratulations to our new teacher-conductors, who so skillfully guided their choirs through the Festivals. we will be putting out separate reports for each area in the next few months. Our website is being updated and will be available SOOOOOOON.

PLEASE contemplate donating to us in the upcoming Giving Tuesday campaign today /tomorrow, depending on your timezone and this posting. We look forward to your donations being matched in this very successful annual campaign!!.
