During the second wave of the Covid-19, Sonrisas de Bombay provided support to six public and charitable hospitals in the city of Mumbai, purchasing and delivering basic items they needed. Thanks to the donations received by our donors, we have been able to purchase the materials the hospitals had requested, as they needed them in order to properly attend the hundreds of patients arriving at their gates every day during the worst days of the second wave.
Among other items, we purchased and delivered heparin injections, anticoagulants, bipap masks vented, hemoflow, bloodline tubing lines. These items have allowed hospitals to admit and treat more than 25,000 patients from underprivileged communities!
After those terrible weeks, once the situation slightly went back to a certain normal, we focused our efforts in vaccination. Our teams have gone house to house to inform the communities about the benefits of vaccinating, and helping them to register in the official application created by the authorities. We also have joined efforts with the Municipal health authorities to organize vaccination camps, where almost 6,000 persons have been vaccinated.
Thanks to these efforts, that you generous donation has made possible, now thousands of people have been able to access to health care and vaccines, and now they can look into the future with hope.
