Greetings all. A newsletter will be out soon but I wanted to update everyone on our progress in rural Mexico. Over the last few months we have been focusing our efforts on training traditional midwives and developing community based first responder teams in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. The rural areas in Hidalgo are very remote and difficult to access. Our partnership with the Secreatary of Health in Hidalgo is critical to being successful in this effort. They have been providing transporation and intelligent about activities in the region. There is cartel activity in the state but not as promient as other states in Mexico. Our goal is to train and equip traditional midwives that have come down from the mountains to attend the training. Most of these ladies do not speak Spanish so we need someone to translate the Spanish into the appropriate dilect. It makes for an interesting training some times. The midwives train on the equipment that we will be providing them so they gain hands on instruction on how to use infant resusicitation devices and techniques. Everyone is enthusiastic and dialed in on the training. These ladies want to increase the survival of every baby they deliver and they deliver a lot of them. Each midwife will deliver between 40 and 60 babies a year. That means over 600 newborns are affected by what you are helping Medic Outpost accomplish.
More information and photos will be in the newsletter so stay turned. As always thank you for your support and trust.
Best,
Larry
