Greeting from St martins School.
Thanks to the support we have received to date in donations, we have been able to make it this far. We are on the third term of the revised calendar year due to the pandemic.
Education: We resumed school on the 4th of January 2022. Students had a one week break from the 23rd of December and are continuing from where they left off. Arts and Music subjects have been reintroduced with the new curriculum to encourage students pursue other options on graduation.
The national primary and secondary school exams will start on the 5th of March for Primary school graduates and on the11th of March for the secondary schools. We have 66 boys and girls in primary school sitting their final exams and 58 girls in high school who will be graduating at the end of March. We are hoping to have good results first week of April.
St Martins School Boys School : We had a sitting earlier in the year to review where we are and how much work needs to be done to be able to have the boys school opened when the next school calendar starts on the 25th of April 2022.
We revised the budget downwards and even with the revision we are still far off on the financial front. As things stand we may not be able to open the school in this calendar year. We need KES 9 million ( USD 90,000) to support the school fully in year 1. KES 3 Million ( USD 33000) is needed before April to do repairs and have the school ready before April 1st.
We have managed to raise KES 624,000 ( USD 6240) toward this and we are hoping to raise more in the coming days to see what will be done in the course of the year. We are grateful for the donations we have received to date.
School Feeding and the Saturday Feeding Program: We have continued with the school feeding program and the Saturday feeding program. We feed 800 students in Primary school, Monday to friday and also feed between 1300 and 1500 children from the kibagare slum during the saturday feeding program. with donations we hope to continue with the feeding program for the year 2022.
Secondary School Boys Program: The best perfoming boys in the upcming exams will need to be placed in secondary school once they graduate from Primay school. As it is, we may not have the school ready by the time the new school year begins on 25th of April 2022. With this in mind, we will only select a handful of boys with the ones who will be the most needy given a chance to attend high school. This is due to limited funding to support the boys program.
At the moment, 5 boys will be graduating from secondary school in the upcoming national exams thanks to the support they ave received through the program. we still have 19 boys supported through this program and we are hoping with more funding we will be able to get more boys into secondary school as we work towards getting a solution for the boys school.
We are grateful for the support we have received to date and we will be sure to send more updates on the progress we have made as the year progresses.
Thank you and best regards,
St Martins School, Kibagare.
