Project Report | Mar 2, 2020
Learning, Art and Inclusion for children with cerebral palsy

By Maria del Rosio Garcia Rodriguez | Institutional Development Director

In the School of Conducted Education renew energy in January 2020. We begin with the reinstatement of the students who had been operated by the ULZIBAT intervention. The teachers incorporated all medical recommendations into the routines. Carefully but with great joy the boys and girls were happy to return to their school.

As part of the celebration of Dia de Reyes on January 6, we left Roscas and the workers of the Cuernavaca district of Banco Santander delivered gifts to the children. It was a very happy day for everyone!
La Salle University in Cuernavaca incorporated us as a professional practice scenario for its psychology students. We consider it a great support for all the implications that work with people with disabilities requires. We receive six university students.
The Universidad del Valle de Mexico also sends Physical Rehabilitation students to support work with children.
From the University of Augsburg we receive a volunteer from the Social Work career. Many people add up and with it, collective construction is encouraged!

At school, boys and girls receive their training with routines every day in the first two hours of the day. They make their breakfast routine, in which everyone is enabled to eat independently. Subsequently by age group, they receive or develop their academic learning.

On January 15, students visited the Dinosaur exhibition at the Papalote Museum for children. They were moments of fun and discovery. Faces of fear and learning. Most importantly, the coexistence between children with and without disabilities with which they coincided.

In January everything has flowed very well, until at the beginning of January we received great news.

The School of Conductive Education was invited by the Los Pinos Cultural Center to the First Days for Inclusion. We were invited to present the theatrical work "The Voices of Suki", assembly that the students have prepared since 2019. And also to present an Exhibition with the works of art in acrylic that they made in their workshop "Better to be wrong" in October November 2019 and that appear in Con Nosotros''s Calendar  2020. Then the routine sessions at school changed from 10 to 11:30 hrs of three weeks were dedicated to carry out the rehearsals for the work and the preparations for assembly of the exhibition.

So on February 23 the school moved to present these activities to the CCLos Pinos in Mexico City. Nerves and joyful discovery of new places filled the faces of children. That is priceless. Excellent presentation of the work. A montage with all dignity and a day in which the efforts were reflected in a life that in a conducted way, allows us to live in dignity.

Of course we celebrate Friendship Day! On February 14, the niche of solidarity and love that is our school was interwoven once again with an exchange of gifts.

We have a concern: Katy, a 13-year-old girl, has stopped going to school. Her mother can only bring her once every three weeks. Katy arrives with her books waiting to receive academic instructions from the teachers. We are waiting to find the best solution for this problem, since there is no one who can bring the girl more often to continue her studies.
