Educate 300 Children in rural South Rwanda

Since 2nd November, 2020, the Rwandan government has allowed schools to resume their activities after more than 7 months of interruption due to the health situation due to Covid-19 that the world is currently experiencing. Only students from P4, P5,P6 were allowed to start classes in November. It was an experimental re-entry in the sense that its success would allow the return of students from other levels, namely those P1, P2, P3 primary and nursery section.

On Monday, November 2 we had 56 students in total, showed up, ready to face this special continuation of the school year. With students, teachers and support staff a number of 7 was reached on this first day The health barrier measures established to contain the spread of COVID 19 by the Ministry of Health were scrupulously observed: compulsory wearing of masks, regular hand washing with soap, greeting without shaking hands, avoiding hugs, observing “social distancing”, i.e. a distance of 1 meter between people, temperature measurement at the entrance to the school, then after on 18^th January we had 159 students  in total also showed up and were also ready to continue lessons also following measures put in place by the ministry of health, now Turereneza has a total number of 215 students and a total of 14 staff members.now students are following lessons accordingly due to the support from Centre Turereneza Ltd and our donors.

According to the last report that we sent in October 2020,the rehabillitation and increasing equipments the work is finished for 6 Classrooms, Library and computer room, you can find the progress report  on the attachment photos.we are having a good well equipped  rooms compared to the recent ones, the work will be ongoing as we continue getting financial support.

This project of Centre Turereneza continues to show that it has a big impact to the children and the community in general.

      This project has received 4796$ from the GlobalGiving,this money that was received has helped so much to improve the project as it is being shown below;

               - Finishing classroom of 72sqm,compound wall and the verandah in front of the           classroom,blackboard,roofing which took us different material like cement,sand,bricks and even paints and even different workers to help in building the classroom,we had also the transformation of old classroom with 54sqm for matching with normal standard measures like windows,doors and also electricity installation which means these classrooms will help children to study in good conditions and to reduce many children studying in one classroom which was a challenge whereby the teacher was not able to maintain their studies and this could lead to poor education.in order to overcome the challenge this means that in every classroom there will be 30 students sited in a proper way because of the finished classroom as we have shown above so to mean the quality of education will be improved.the execution of this compared to the project is 35% the rest is 65% for finishing classroom and transformation of old  classroom.

                -Given that almost 30% of our students are first generation learners through reading books;their families are not in position to help them with their lessons at home nor does their home environment provide adequate intellectual stimulation, to overcome these disadvantages and to ensure that the children are still able to learn well and understand,the money given has helped to provide the lower classes with 100 textbooks whereby each class will get 30books except for primary 3 which will receive 40books.according to the prepared budget we have used 12.5% and the rest is 87.5% for textbooks.

                -In summary of the total money used in the project as we have shown above,we have received 4796$ from donors,4296$ was used for realibilitation(finishing and transformation of classrooms) and 500$ used to buy textbooks. Compared to the total budget of 34,025$ the execution is 14% and the rest is 86%, we are still need donors to reach our target.
