Goat for Women's Nutrition and Income

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your continuing support to our initiative promoting goat raising for women's nutrition and income. The raising of goats is one of the best recovery effort for farmers especially women because goats are prolific, easy to raise and do not require much purchased food in order for them to grow. They thrive on grasses around the farm so they are cheap to raise. This reporting period thanks also to local supporters, we were able to promote agro-reforestation and enjoin farming families to raise fruit and timber trees including the raising of forage-type trees and grasses for feed to the goats. There are instances that neighbors quarrel because of competition in grazing areas and access to forage and we want to prevent this. We were able to provide 20 goat raisers with initial supply of seedlings for this purpose. Again, thank you very much.

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative providing goats for women's nutrition and income. This project is indeed important because the goats provide multiple benefits, they are easy to raise and their demand in the market is always high. Their meat is sought after because it is not too fat and high in protein. Because they eat only grasses, they are healthy for the diet too. This reporting period we realize that there is a need for women to start developing their forage plots where the feed for the goats are harvested as some areas already lack fodder for the goats. Sometimes this is a source of quarrel from neighbors with less and less pasture for the animals. We are able to provide seeds and planting materials for the development of pastures to 75 women during this time. Hoping for your kind support to this initiative. Thank you very much.
