Final Report on WASH Project for IDPs in Benue

By Gloria Bolarinwa | Grants Administrator

Since the project was executed in November 2020, there has been reduced water shortage problems and Open Defecation (OD) practices in the camp. The facilities have also contributed to mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 in the community.

One automated borehole, four toilets, ten taps and two handwashing facilities were provided at the camp. A hygiene awareness program was conducted to increase knowledge among the IDPs on practices such as handwashing, drinking and cooking with clean water.

The borehole drilling, toilets and other sanitary constructions were conducted in the first three weeks in November 2020. The project was completed on the 26th of November 2020. ACORN Initiative team of five (5) staff and ten (10) volunteers arrived at the IDP camp at 9 am on the 28th of November 2020 for the commissioning and handover of the project.

Project Successes
