As we navigate through constant water and electricity outages, some of our most vulnerable community members are already able to access clean water with the cisterns you all contributed to installing. We have purchased ten out of 20 cisterns and fully installed seven. In spite of heavy non-stop rain and limited skilled labor available, we are inspired by the resourcefullness of the community to come together and find solutions that sped up the installation process. Thanks to their initiative, we have plans to fully install the remaining three cisterns by the end of this month. This was especially crucial during the summer as we approached the peak of hurricane season in our region.
We would like to take the opportunity to comment on how this process oppened up conversations regarding the planets climate crisis and how we are experiencing it daily with changes to our rain patterns and its consequences. It has also given the opportunity for members of this community to become proactive and manifest more actions of solidarity towards each other that continues to consolidate a communal sense of living against principles of individuality otherwise propagated, especially during these times of pandemia.
Once again our gratitude goes to all of you who believe in us!
We appreciate you consider sharing our project with your friends and family as we move forward towards reaching our goal of installing 20 water cisterns.
