Thankyou for keeping girls safe

By Nigel Goddard | Executive Director

Thankyou for keeping girls safe - and empowering them to protect other girls

Our mission at AusCam is to prevent  exploitation and trafficking of girls, We are especially focussing on the prevention of Online Child Sexual Exploitation, which is affecting 10% of children in Cambodia, and is growing at an alarming rate.

To prevent and protect at this scale, we need a response of hope at an equal scale - and we are building just that ! As we support, equip and empower young women to come together and design campaigns for change, we are seeing hope, connection and creativity in the service of a new identity, as agents of change, everyday heroes and a sisterhood of creatives who are, to use the terms UNICEF uses, "disrupting the harm" of sexual exploitation. I have attached an article which tells the story of change so much more clearly, through Sophea’s story - it has videos embedded, so you can see the campaign video she created, which highlights the way we are building on our foundations of creating safety, case management, educational opportunities and resilience, and then mobilising this amazing capacity within each of the young women we support so they can multiply that voice of protection.

In the last 3 months, from January to March:

  • 25 girls attended training, joined a campaign incubator and pitched 4 campaigns through social media
  • 41 girls have been employed in safe and decent  jobs
  • 24 girls have received specialist counselling and mentoring services
  • 66 girls have received educational scholarship  support

With your support, we’ll continue to assist, encourage and empower girls to be resilient to future challenges and effectively end trafficking before it begins ... now thats something truly worth celebrating ! Thankyou for being on this journey with us.
