Fund training for women formerly incarcerated

Summer is well underway at Perfect, Inc and we are so grateful for the incredible support we have recieved so far this year! 2022 has been an amazing year already, and we're just getting started!

In the past few months, we have joined with a new employment partner, welcomed a new board member, new fellows, and new interns, all of whom are working to expand our reach and support the expansion of opportunities for formerly incarcerated women. 

We are extremely excited to share that our 2022 program session begins September 16 and will run for 12 weeks, until graduation on December 14. More than just another session, this year we will be welcoming 8 women into the program. This is double our 2021 class size, and we are extremely happy to be able to work with even more women to provide them with opportunities society has taken from them. The expansion of our class size has been made possible by a grant from Alexandria Worker's Development Center to cover internship wages for each of the women that goes through our program. This grant will enable us to pay the women above minimum wage during their internships. Each will be making between $15 and $25 an hour, depending on the industry they're working in, an enormous milestone in our goal to support formerly incarcerated women as they regain their financial footing, rebuild their lives, and care for themselves and their families.  

As we reflect on the progress we have made during the first half of 2022, we look to the next six with excitement and hope about the women who will join us and the lives we will be able to help in the 12 weeks of our program and far beyond as they achieve new successes and accomplish goals they may have never thought possible.  

We are getting ready for an amazing new year! 2021 was equal parts exhilarating and challenging. We completed our 2021 pilot session at the end of the summer and all of our participants still today are working jobs they enjoy at wages more than twice the minimum wage. We couldn’t be happier for them! Their success is the reason we do what we do at Perfect Inc. 

And our team has grown! I feel so motivated by the individuals in our community that dedicated their expertise, experience, time, and hard-earned money to help grow Perfect Inc’s reach and get the word out about our Employment Training and Internship program. Just look at our website! She’s beautiful! 

But as I said earlier, there are some challenges and one of the most pressing is that Perfect Inc. needs a place to operate. A physical space brings our participants together and helps us all connect in ways that are crucial to this program's success. However, the spaces that are available for free create transportation barriers for our participants.

The funds to rent a space are absolutely critical to starting our next session. We are so grateful for your support in 2021. I hope I can lean a little on you again this year.
