Dear well wishers and supporters,

The last quarter saw significant increase in number large tree owners signing up for our conservation initiative. It was primarily due to the change in our strategy.

We are promoting the idea of offering an attractive price for sustainably collected fruits of Terminalia bellirica fruits in addition to one time incentive to the owner. It has helped us spread the work to 3 villages and saving 45 large trees of 5 different species viz- Terminalia bellirica, Mangifera indica, Artocarpus heterophylla , Ficus benghalensis and Antiaris toxicaria.

The local community members are happy that now there is possibility of earning additional income every year from the tree through fruit collection. We will be gradually bringing most of the trees under FAIRWILD certification program if the criterion are fullfilled. In other words, conservation has to become remunerative for the primary stakeholders in order to be a successfull proposition. For that we will have to innovate and create transformative value. Till that happens we need to buy time through direct incentives. Your support thus plays critical role in survival of this idea.

A simple example of how important one large tree is can be understood from the attached picture of a large tree of Terminalia bellirica on which about 10 Great pied Hornbills are perching. It also serves as an evidence of impact of this conservation initiative.

In addition, we are also sharing biodiversity associated with the selected trees that we are saving in village Vanzole and Kulye.

Hope it will encourage to provide continuous support to this unique project.

Thanks and regards
