Significant Life Change Story/Testimony

Ohm (Nickname), 19 years old. “I have been addicted to methamphetamine for 4 years since I was 15 years old. At that time, I was studying in grade 7. I started using drugs with my friends and then I became a drug addict. I was kicked out of school. After that, I went to the rehab center but never finish the program. This is the third time that I receive therapy. The important key to stop using drug in a strong mind. 4 years ago, I got into the drug cycle because I wanted to try on the persuasion of a friend.I started by using amphetamine and kratom. I became an aggressive person and don’t listen to anyone. I live alone in my room and don’t want to accompany anyone excepta group of friends who use drugs. This was affected my family relationships. I spend time for 4 months in my first time of rehabilitation. I went through the hardships of being in chains until I can stop using drugs and I was confident that I had overcome drugs. I returned to the community but my mind was not strong enough and I was persuaded by friends to go back to drink again. This is my third time for my rehabilitation. I promised my parents and hope that I would return to my community to live a normal life again. This time, I really intend to overcome drugs. In the first phase of drug withdrawal, I didn't want to quit because the drug was still active in my body. Until a week has passed, Drug is no longer active in my brain. Then, my mind was changed. Thanks to God for the ministers, brothers, and sisters in this center for giving encouragement, caring, and praying for me. They help me to have a better life that now I am able to talk and do activities just like other people. I have been at the Light Shine Center for more than 10 months now. I am determined to strengthen my mind until I can refuse drugs. Now, my family and my brothers at the center admire on me how smart and stronger I am. Thank you very much.”
