Keyla is one of the outstanding Filantropis Scholars that your contributions are helping to support. She entered the Filantropis Scholars Program in 2016 and is currently in her last semester to close her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology at the Mariano Gálvez University in Guatemala.
A degree in Clinical Psychology caught Keyla's attention because when she sought support for her own mental wellbeing, she noted that there were no professionals in her community of Chajul to support her. In thinking about others around her, Keyla identified a need to offer professional services, as well as workshops about mental health. Now she is close to making her dream of graduating from university come true and she envisions having her own clinic to care for people who need it.
Keyla, in addition to wanting to support others, loves to embroider, is analytical and loves to pose questions about herself and the world around her. Amongst this and her studies, she also currently works at the Fundación contra el Hambre, (Food for the Hungry, Guatemala) a Christian organization focused on responding to the human suffering and graduating by graduating communities of extreme poverty.
Keyla currently provides training to women from the Cotzal community, Ixil Mayan speakers as a Self-Management Officer. She is very grateful for the financial support, training, and constant learning in being an agent of change in the community, because through learning, it has supported her in identifying needs and problems and seeing it with different eyes, as it is an opportunity.
The topics of entrepreneurship and savings that Filantropis fosters are something new that has helped Keyla in her professional and personal training, because she shares her experiences with women and above all she applies it to her own enture, Pary Shop Caba.
Keyla is grateful for Filantropis for believing in her since the inicial scholarship selection process. Your support has helped to give her the opportunity to strengthen her skills and abilities, to support her family, to contribute professionally, and open her own business, and to pursue her dream of gaining a unversity degree and giving back to her community. Congratulations, Keyla and thanks to all the GlobalGiving support!
