Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month

The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are challenging, but we face them with optimism and a lot of energy. We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thanks for all your support.

Actions accomplished

1.  We continue with our reinforcement program in reading comprehension, literacy, and mathematics at 8 schools.
2. We started an incentive program to motivate students' effort in math. We will reward the students daily, based on the progress shown in the classroom.
3. The first performance evaluation of the year was made to to know the progress during the first two months. Results will be reported in June.
4. Mother´s day celebration at 8 schools, we distributed 27 baskets to the teachers
5. Amashca school 1st anniversary, we distributed 11 soccer balls to team that won the soccer tournament
6. Psychology workshops: Starting this year we are providing psychological support to all the children of our 8 schools. Through workshops that reinforce mental. Evaluations were performed during the first trimester and workshops were carried out at Pariacaca, Amashca and Punyán together with our volunteer Isabella Villalobos.
7. 154 Tablets are available for the children at 8 schools’ libraries.

9. Mision Huascaran soccer tournament held in July 2022 
10. More than 60% of the students are in "process" in reading comprehension skills as result of the 2 years lack of classes during the pandemic, without promoting the habit of reading
11. During June we began a reading comprehension workshop with the 14 high school students of Punyan school
12. Teacher’s day celebration on July 6^th, we distributed a small recognition to all the teachers. 
13. In July we performed the second skills evaluation to our children.
14. We continue with Pesquera Diamante videos screening at Congar, Pisca, Utupampa and Huashcao schools were the children learned about Personal hygiene.
15. Pisca, Utupampa and Huashcao schools also viewed video Nr.6 about talents identification 
16. The first week of July celebrated Huashcao school anniversary, where Mision Huascaran teacher was invited as jury of the typical dishes contest.

Actions accomplished

1. January and February Summer School in 6 towns – 81% attendance. Children enjoyed every workshop and were eager to attend. We provided academic support (reading, writing and math skills), emotional support (fine motor skills, concentration, relaxation, sensorial integration, coordination skills) and recreational activities (crafts, mini chefs, play doh)
2. Successful campaign via social media “Donate a school supplies kit for a child”. Reached goal: 300 kits and “Let`s build a library together” Reached goal: 3 new equipped libraries
3. Printing of Math and Communication/literacy materials to be used during 2022 school year
4. BEE READERS new Library platform installed in the children’s tablets
5. NEW SCHOOL added to the Education program at Pariaqaqa. We had a meeting with Pariaqaqa principal and Parents board to set up 2022 action plan for library installation
6. Psychological support workshops for children and  diagnostic evaluations of the new schools.
7. Start of the 2022 Education Program in 8 schools
