To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are challenging, but we face them with optimism and a lot of energy. We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thanks for all your support.
The new normal has led us to redefine the ways in which we provide education to children, especially in the rural areas where we work.
Actions accomplished
- Meetings with principals to plan 2022 school year.
- Utupampa: we started to work in person in the library, twice a week. We coordinated with the teachers and principal with the intention to not disrupt school hours
- Congar: we continue supporting teachers and using the school installations.
- Punyan: Does not have Ministry authorization to resume school activities (issues with the infrastructure). In 2022 the principal will be welcoming us if they receive authorization from the Ministry.
- Pisca: Principal Marlene refuses to give us access to the library. We will work our programs in coordination with the parent’s board and the mayor.
- Punyan: We continue with our in-person work every week
- During October, we awarded our children with a recognition for surpassing Reading comprehension and literacy goals.
- Succesful campaign via social media “Donate a school supplies kit for a child”. Reached goal : 300 kits
- Math and Communication/literacy materials to be used during 2022 school year
- BEE READERS new library platform being installed in tablets

To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are challenging, but we face them with optimism and a lot of energy. We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thanks for all your support.
The new normal has led us to redefine the ways in which we provide education to children, especially in the rural areas where we work.
Therefore, we developed a new strategy for 2021 Education program
- Improve the level of reading comprehension of primary school students from the schools of influence of Mision Huascaran
- Promote the daily reading habit of primary school children from the schools of influence of Mision Huascaran
- Improve the oral reading level of elementary school children from the schools of influence of Mision Huascaran
- Accompany the children and teachers of each community of influence of Mision Huascaran during the global pandemic
Actions accomplished
- Children evaluations were performed, and we found that 2nd to 5th graders had comprehension and reading problems which were addressed by moving some of them to the literacy program and others were moved to a lower reading level to reduce frustration and improve reading skills
- Tablets and school supplies were distributed to children registered in 5 primary schools
- Reading books were assigned, based on reading level identified during the initial evaluation
- All the children are supervised by 2 teachers and a team of 18 volunteer educators who monitor the progress of the children remotely (via Whatsapp, phone calls or Razkids platform)
- School principals and teachers were informed about the children progress
- Activities for new readers were developed and distributed.
- Children evaluations will be done on trimester basis, additionally the education team gets together on weekly basis to assess children progress.
However, our work does not stop, and we want to continue providing quality education throughout the school year. For this reason, we hope to continue counting on your support so that the children of Mancos and Carhuaz continue to receive education. We would like to thank you before-hand for all the support we receive from you through GlobalGiving platform.
Wishing you all the best.
