Getting to Siavonga was a huge thrill for me. The view of Lake Kariba takes your breath away, and the Fishing Camp compound is a lively and cheerful place.
It was not difficult to find the school, since it overlooks the compound and is located on the top of a small hill.
I was able to visit the school twice, once when there were no students since it was too late, and the other time with full classes. In the meantime I had the chance to talk with the school head teacher, he was very friendly and after welcoming me into his office he told me about how things were going. The first thing he mentioned is the lack of infrastructure, this unfortunately remains the school's main problem. The fishing camp population continues to grow, and so the number of students. Classrooms and toilets can't cover the real needs of schoolchildren.
Since the last update, we have managed to raise 200 euros but there is still much to be done. Fortunately, we are all positive and not discouraged, including the head teacher! Not to mention the pupils.
Please continue to follow us, to support and share the project among your friends.
Sincerely,
Marco
