Coming from a skipped-generation family, Ian was faced with the predicament of financial difficulties as her grandfather couldn't find a job due to old age. Though Ian looked forward to signing up for the summer camp in school and community, she couldn't afford the price as her family was already facing difficulties to make ends meet.
When Ian was first referred to our social workers and the community partners, we not only provide her with sponsorship but also enroll her in the summer camp so that she was able to adapt to group life, develop independence, and engage in character building. According to Ian, she was happy that our teachers provided her with a chance to turn her dreams into reality.
She was looking forward to the summer camp whenever summer vacation arrived. Our social workers and community partners also found that Ian has been transformed from a highly dependent child into a girl who's able to take care of herself and complete her tasks on her own through summer camp and group life.
