The End of a Great Year

By Daniel Silva | Workshops leader

The work that we have done in CEPALC with different grassroots groups in various regions of the country in 2018 has been very rewarding. We completed the recording, video, and theater production of La Verdadera Historia de los Gatos con Botas (The True Story of the Cats with Boots), written by Felix Posada, with children in Boyacá in the small town of Mongua. The story narrates the injustices that children experience in the world. They have been working on this play throughout the year alongside workshops on values and living together in peace. We hope to have the results on our digital platforms soon.

The work with young women in Córdoba, Boyacá, and Bogotá have also left us with great results. We've completed workshops focused on taking care of their bodies and preventing teen pregnancy. The group of girls in Boyacá, for example, explained that they had never had the opportunity to talk about these subjects, but had always had a lot of questions about their bodies, sexuality, and their rights.
More than 160 women have benefited from these workshops and we have been able to share messages of living in peace, solidarity, and love with more than 100 children in various parts of the country. We will continue working for the next generations by means of inclusive communication to recognize and value their rights and to help them create a better environment and a just life.
