Dear supporters,
You probably have seen in the news that Haiti is experiencing social unrest. Back in August, the Ministry of National Education in Haiti announced the start of the school year for the 2022-2023 academic year would be Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, instead of September 5 as originally set.
Unfortunately, it is November and school has not started yet. Insecurity, 30% inflation and fuel shortages have made an already difficult situation even worse. In the past, our students and teachers have been victims of the unrest and violence as College Les Sophos d’ Haiti to leave its previous location in 2021.
Students in Haiti have missed a significant amount of classroom time in the past four years. We are working to raise funds to implement a more robust tutoring program to help students be at grade level. We anticipate a larger student body and have much work to do to help all students.
College Les Sophos occupied a temporary location the past school year. We are still working to ready a place for the start of school. Our other schools are ready to go. Through it all our goals are the same. To provide quality education and alleviate poverty.
Thank you all for your support through these trying times for the children and their families!
