GRACE FRC Provides Day Camp Throughout October

Fifty-two children attended the holiday out-of-school day camp at GRACE Family Resource Center in Thailand. The month-long October holiday from school often exposes children without direct parental supervision to situations and conditions placing them at extremely high risk of being exploited or trafficked. Together, we provided day camp with educational tutoring, recreations, arts & crafts, music & dance, mathematics, reading, penmanship, problem solving games and more for the school-aged children. The average daily attendance was more than forty with eight staff members and volunteers. The center opened from seven o'clock in the morning until five o'clock in the afternoon each weekday. In addition to the educational advantage, the children received two meals and two snacks each day. Your support provides hope for these children and the future leaders of Thailand.

IN THE NEWS: 3.17 million Thai children are labeled "high risk" - and experts are calling on the Ministry of Interiors to work alongside local organizations to improve the situation.

It's these very kids that GRACE is working to support, educate and encourage future opportunities to beat the heartbreaking statistics. Your contributions provide a safe and engaging environment where ten staff and volunteers teach at-risk children in an afterschool program.

"1.7 million Thai kids have learning problems, 476,647 are living in severe poverty, 200,000-300,000 are stateless, 138,000 are abandoned or living on the streets, 104,289 are teen mothers, 33,121 are child offenders and 25,000 have been forced into commercial sex."

A Van for GRACE Family Resource Center

Van for Shuttling Children to GRACE FRC Khao Noi

GRACE opened a family resource center in the Khao Noi community of Nongprue located east of Pattaya in January of 2017. The after school program provides homework assistance, advanced tutoring, English language classes, nutritional snacks, health and wellness supplies, and more. The staff of the family resource center used personal vehicles to transport the children from six schools to the GRACE FRC Khao Noi each afternoon. Some transports were overcrowded. We expressed our need for van and you answered!

The addition of a good quality used van provides shuttle transportation for approximately twenty-five children to the after school program everyday. A mother of one of the participant's stated the children feel like VIPs (very important persons). She stated the children had a great pride as they load and ride in the GRACE van. These children are VIPs!

Your generous donations are creating an atmosphere of self-worth and pride. The van is much more than a practical transportation option for shuttling children from school to the family resource center. It's an expression of hope as children living in poverty are provided access to educational assistance and genuine potential in eradicating the vulnerabilities of human trafficking.

The impact of your gifts reach beyond the purchase of the van. Each day is filled with children developing academically and socially. Children and parents are lingering at the center because it's a "happy place". We need additional space as the FRC is filled to capacity with fifty children enrolled in the after school program. The GRACE leadership is actively seeking a larger facility in order to provide these needed services for more families of the Khao Noi community.
